Welcome to the website of the art educator John Sheeran where you can find out more about his inspirational art talks. John is a former Curator of Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, and an experienced and popular lecturer. His art talks are given in three towns in Suffolk. Each talk lasts approximately an hour and a half.
In 2016, John is giving his Masterpiece Series II lectures, in which he tackles great art thematically. There are four talks, covering portrait, still life, landscape and narrative painting from the Italian Renaissance to the present. As ever, John is choosing some of his favourite masterpieces, many of which can be seen in London collections, such as the National Gallery, Tate Britain, Courtauld Gallery, Wallace Collection and Dulwich Picture Gallery. For each talk, John produces a list of paintings and their locations for his audience to take away. A key purpose of the lectures is to encourage people to go and see the original paintings for themselves, so they can experience the visual, emotional and intellectual stimulation of great art.
The talks are being given in Woodbridge, Ipswich and Halesworth. Each talk costs £10, though there is an additional charge of £1 in Ipswich, to cover the cost of manning the ticket office there.
You can buy tickets at each venue on the day. Woodbridge is a small venue, so we strongly advise you to reserve a seat in advance.
To reserve a seat, please phone Imogen Sheeran on 01728 621126 (answerphone) or email via the contact form on this website.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
